Resolving problems with the Windows Firewall and FTP programs

Go into My Computer/Control Panel and right click on System. You should be on Windows XP SP2.

Go into the Windows Firewall.

The normal setting is ON. If the screen is greyed out then they are using an external Firewall program.

Click on Exceptions.

The program MUST show in here. If not then it must be added by clicking on Add Program.

If it then will not add it but says that it is covered by a Group Policy then they have a 2003 server which is automatically setting the Firewall settings.

Click on Browse and locate the program. OK the setting.

The program is now permitted.
