Norman is a former police officer and a graduate of the Open University. During his time in the police force he was commended by the Royal Humane Society.
While working in the Lincolnshire Police he was a member of the Home Office Large Major Enquiry System computer team (HOLMES) .
He formed ZiPZAP in 1986 with Kevin Jackson.
Apart from his two degrees (one in mathematics and one in computing), Norman holds the grade of Fellow of the Institution of Analysts and Programmers, a Member of the British Computer Society, a Member of the Institute for the Management of Information Systems and an Associate Member of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications.
Norman does most of the programming in ParcelTrak. Also programming in Windev 11, Webdev 11, Windev Mobile 11, Visual Basic (5 and .net) and Javascript. He sees his future projects being Internet-based or multi-platform 4/5GL programs.
Norman has a deep interest in Egyptology and ancient writings, often frequenting the British Museum. He is often heard quoting from the 'Epic of Gilgamesh' and has some extreme views on the state of the country (petrol prices being but one).
